News broke on Thursday evening, 9 July, 2020 that two naval Officials, male and female were shot dead by unknown gun men on the Lokoja – Okene express road.
The incident report said it occurred at about 6p.m, causing panic in the area for hours. 
The Officials were traveling in a Toyota Sienna when they were stopped by the gunmen who opened fire, killing them immediately.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede, who confirmed the incident to The Punch newspaper was quoted to have said, “I have dispatched my men there to bring me the details of how it happened.”
