WHEN THE DUST SETTLES – Edo2020 Matters Arising

By Paul Omobhude, Esq

It is not required for one to be a politician before appreciating one’s inevitable stake in the political process. An unavoidable stake it is to share in the responsibility to save one’s society from full-blown anarchy and incurable failure. A collective duty for sanity to be maintained in the society, a moral obligation to seek the truth, find it and tell it. To call white, white and black, black. Quite often, we notice that widespread falsehood prevails for a season and the people are charmed by it. But then, all of a sudden, like when dust settles, the truth comes to the rescue, strips men naked, cures their blindness and new perspectives crystallize.

It is like a law of nature. When dust rises, it fills the atmosphere with debris, illusion appear real and people who ought to know better seek refuge under it to perpetuate their wicked thoughts, to becloud minds and twist the thought process of the innocent with their selfish, self serving ambition, self centered motivation, private pocket hustling and verbose but empty legal interpretation.

As the dust rises, they forget it is going to settle soon, so they engage in a barrage of lies with the self illusion of “say it for long, till it becomes the truth”. What a display of atrocious fallacy!

They dance naked in the rising dust, expecting we wont see their nakedness, a caricature image every modern society denounces and shame. they seek refuge in the growing dust to quickly fill their pockets. Such is the stock in trade of the heartless, clueless, selfish trick-stars who choose to hide glaring truth in the rumble of the rising dust.

These trick-stars, some of whom are personally known to me as heartless opportunists toke liberty in the rising dust to push lies down the throat of the innocent but soon enough the dust settled and their folly lay bare before their naked eyes.

Right now, they hide, the burden of shame breathing down their elongated necks, their rickety legs cant hold, their razor sharp lips have gone blunt. I do not freight, because I know hunger will chase them out soon enough to swallow their vomit with all pleasure, for that is their stock in trade.

But for now the dust have settled, those who did not know them before now, have the rear privilege of seeing true nature before they blend in again only to repeat the circle of self deceit when the dust rises again!
